The electricity used over the lifetime of a single incandescent bulb costs 5 to 10 times the original purchase price of the bulb itself. LED light can maintain (70%) of its brightness even after 50000 hours. LED bulbs or lights have higher efficiency for converting power in to brightness .

It can save you Rs 500 per year by replacing an 140 W incandescent bulb to a 10W LED light bulb. It means that it can save you up to Rs 1690 before the LED bulb goes out. (Formula, (140-10) x 50000 ÷ 1000 = 1690. bulbs are on for 365 days, 6 hours a day and electricity is Rs 6-12 per kilo-watt.
